“Funeralocity puts funeral prices online”

MIAMI,  July 5, 2019 — According to research performed in 2018 by the Funeral Consumers Alliance and the Consumer Federation of America, only 27 percent of American funeral homes that have websites post their prices online. In an interview with the Miami Herald, Ed Michael Reggie, the founder and CEO of Funeralocity, explained his desire to make the costs of funerals and cremations more accessible through his price comparison website.

Reggie told the Miami Herald that he believes funeral costs should be more transparent. Making this information more widely available should help make planning a funeral more straightforward and less time-consuming. Funeralocity lets consumers compare pricing for cremations and burial services and read reviews of funeral homes. Funeralocity also has an Excellence Program that allows it to thoroughly vet funeral homes by reviewing their business practices. When consumers work with an Excellence Provider, they can take advantage of special discounts.

“We plan to be the ultimate source of funeral costs in America,” said Ed Michael Reggie, Funeralocity’s CEO.

Since its national launch in April 2019, Funeralocity has expanded and now features 10,000 funeral homes in 100 metropolitan areas across the United States. Its goal is to feature detailed pricing for each of the 19,000 funeral homes in the country.
